Thistleberries Collectible Dolls & Ornaments was established in 1998. After positive encouragement from family and friends we sold our products at Saturday Market in Anchorage, Alaska for two summers. Tourists and local patrons began collecting our products. We were frequently asked if we had a shop where they could purchase more of our product line. Then in 1999 an opportunity arose for us to get in on the ground floor of a new building being constructed in Talkeetna, Alaska. We opened the doors to our own gift shop, Thistleberries Unique Alaskan Gifts, in the spring of 2000.
Making this decision was very rewarding for us. As a family owned and operated business we were able to expand our product line and create the exact avenue we needed to market our products. Believing and knowing our heart felt satisfaction that we experienced through our hand crafted products we were able to encourage other artists and craftsman to join us. We were able to offer the Alaskan visitor true Alaskan memories to cherish from their Alaskan travels as a visitor to our shop. Our dolls and ornaments are sold world wide today. After being away from my home town for 32 years, we have made the decision to leave Alaska and move back to Riddle, Oregon. We now have a very charming little quilt & gift shop, located at 336 Main St. in Riddle. Riddle is a small town, exit 103 off of I-5 in Oregon. Located in southern Douglas County it is the heart of the lumber industry. Coming back home, we wanted to offer the community a place where people can feel free to be who they are and encourage them to join us in the rapid growing area of quilting. We like to encourage people to be creative and inspire them by using color and texture of fabrics. |
